Understand the existing roof
Condition, layers, decking, access and flashing help determine whether a repair or a replacement makes sense.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA · RESIDENTIAL HOMES
A roof that brings your home together.
A kitchen that brings everyone together.
Two ways to make your pad better.
ONE HOME. A MORE THOUGHTFUL APPROACH.
Start with the part of your home you want to change. Explore the possibilities, understand the materials, and bring your priorities into one clear plan.
From the roofline to the kitchen island, the details should feel connected to you.

THE PART YOU DON’T SEE MATTERS, TOO
Condition, layers, decking, access and flashing help determine whether a repair or a replacement makes sense.
Underlayment, flashing, ventilation and installation details belong beside the visible material in the proposal.
Sun exposure, shade, roof geometry, electricity use and utility requirements shape the energy discussion.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE
No. Start with an inspection. A localized problem may call for a repair, while widespread deterioration can require a broader scope. Online inspiration is not a roof-condition assessment.
Solar shingles form part of the roof covering. Conventional panels are typically mounted above a separate roof. Compare the complete roofing and energy scope for your home.
Roof area and pitch, removal, access, material choice, decking repairs, flashing and any electrical or solar work. A written proposal should state quantities, allowances and exclusions.
Reflectance depends on the specific product and finish. Evaluate rated products and the full roof assembly for your location. Read ENERGY STAR’s cool-roof guidance.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SCOPE
Start with what is working. Change the things that make the biggest difference to your daily life.
Explore surfaces, hardware, backsplash and lighting while retaining a suitable existing arrangement.
Coordinate cabinetry, countertops, fixtures and lighting into a complete design direction.
Study a different arrangement, with structural, plumbing, electrical and permit needs reviewed before final scope.
GOOD QUESTIONS, CLEARER DECISIONS
Not necessarily. Start with storage, circulation and how you use the room. Retaining a functional arrangement can keep the project more focused.
Use this studio to narrow your preferences. Confirm physical samples, dimensions, availability and installation requirements before ordering.
Discuss temporary cooking arrangements, dust protection, utility interruptions, access, daily working hours and the sequence of work.
The planner organizes your ideas. A final price needs verified measurements, specific selections and a defined scope, including any work by licensed trades.

YOUR ROOF / YOUR BUDGET
See a preliminary range for your roof selection. After an in-person visit, your contractor confirms the scope and final written price.
Manufacturer example. Your range follows the selected roof category. The exact product, finish and installation details are confirmed in person.
01 / PROJECT COST
Use actual roof surface area, not home living area. A roofing square is 100 sq ft. This site has not measured your roof.
Final pricing follows an in-person assessment and written proposal from your contractor. This range is not a binding offer; product upgrades or site conditions can change it.
FINALIZED IN PERSON
Bring your selection and range to your home visit. Your contractor verifies the roof measurements, existing layers, decking, access and chosen materials, then confirms the final scope and price in writing.
Better Pad’s planning ranges reflect a higher-end position informed by Southern California roofing research. They are selected planning allowances, not competitor medians or confirmed supplier quotes.
For a straightforward replacement, the allowance covers ordinary removal and disposal, roof materials, labor, underlayment and standard flashing. Permits and all included work are confirmed in the final proposal.
Research reviewed October 16, 2026. Roof surface area is required for a total; the map and Google solar data do not supply a roofing measurement.
02 / WAYS TO PAY
Pay directly, compare personal-loan marketplaces, or explore contractor financing. The providers below are being evaluated; financing through Better Pad is not active yet.
Provider information is a reference, not a credit offer or approval. Rates, fees and repayment periods depend on the specific lender and written offer. No credit application is submitted here.
03 / COMPARE A WRITTEN OFFER
Enter the interest rate and repayment period from an offer to compare borrowing with paying directly. Keep the full project cost in view.
This is an example budget, not a confirmed project price.
The amount you plan to pay yourself; this is not a contractor deposit.
Use the fixed interest rate, not a fee-inclusive APR. No rate is assumed.
120 months is 10 years. Use the term in the written offer.
Calculation assumes fixed monthly payments and $0 fees. Upfront or financed fees, deferred-interest promotions and variable-rate credit need a separate comparison. This calculator does not determine eligibility.

Choosing Find my home sends your address through Better Pad’s server to Google Maps for address matching and map display. Choosing Check solar potential sends the matched location to Google’s Solar API for energy feasibility information. Choosing Check local weather sends the matched location to the National Weather Service. If energy estimates are enabled, choosing Compare this improvement sends the displayed home address and selected equipment information to Rewiring America after your confirmation. Choosing Find local programs sends only the matched ZIP code to Rewiring America. When project saving is connected, Better Pad saves the address and ZIP you enter, your selected roof and kitchen preferences, project needs and timing, notes, budget inputs and financing interests as a draft inquiry. Saving starts when you search an address or commit a project choice; browsing or previewing a product alone does not create an inquiry. A secure browser cookie connects this browser to your saved project so you can return to it. Google’s matched address, coordinates, maps, imagery, solar results and other provider results are not copied into your inquiry. The separate search service keeps daily request totals and your browser holds the current results for this page session. The saving status tells you whether your latest choices reached Better Pad. If saving is unavailable, your current choices remain available on this page for planning and download, but are not confirmed as saved. Starting a new inquiry disconnects this browser from the old one; it does not delete a previously saved record. For help accessing or deleting an inquiry, contact Better Pad. Hosting and Google may process request metadata under their policies. Opening the Google Maps link sends the address to Google in a new tab. The project planner does not automatically submit your name or email. Choosing Send inquiry after reviewing your plan and confirming follow-up sends those contact details and the reviewed plan to Better Pad for a project response. This does not apply for credit or authorize marketing messages. Downloading saves a copy on your device. Choosing email passes the displayed plan to your email app; you choose whether to send. Your email provider handles that message under its own policies. Avoid including sensitive financial or identity documents. By using Google Maps features, you agree to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms; the Google Privacy Policy also applies. Solar results are preliminary energy-planning information, not roofing measurements, damage assessments, engineering advice, warranties or quotes. For questions, email contact@thebetterpad.com.
